Solar Farming

Local MP Stephen Phillips last week called on the Government to give assistance for more solar farms to prevent contentious onshore wind planning applications frequently opposed by the communities they affect. Speaking on a visit to a solar farm in the south of the constituency, Stephen highlighted the need for a more diverse energy mix to prevent over-reliance on foreign imported fossil fuels and to deal with the issue of climate change. "Over the next few years, it is imperative that we ensure our energy security as the cost of fossil fuels increases with greater demand from developing countries," Stephen said. "Solar power and solar farms are surprisingly productive even in this country and are an important part of the solution to our energy needs."
