"It's the little things that can make a difference in the battle against climate change!" That's the message Stephen Phillips QC MP was given on a recent visit to witness SmartTrash technology brought to the UK by local company Blue Castle. Incredibly, this non-invasive technology fitted to waste compactors at very little cost to their owners – like universities, manufacturing businesses and hospitals – reduces both cost and carbon emissions by more accurately measuring the need for compactors to be emptied with resultant fewer collections by gas-guzzling HGVs. "This is an amazing product to which there is no downside," Stephen said. "It's incredible to see such a simple idea both saving money for businesses and reducing carbon emissions, and I wish Blue Castle every success in persuading more organisations across the UK to fit these products to their waste compactors."
