Formed in June 2000 in order to reduce the number of people killed and injured on Lincolnshire's roads, Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership was visited last week by local MP Stephen Phillips to see the work that the Partnership does in helping drivers across the County. Shown around LRSP's facilities at North Kyme, Stephen heard how LRSP assists young drivers in particular to understand the dangers of inappropriate behaviour whilst driving, like texting on mobile phones, before himself trying out the Academy's simulator and learning to steer out of a skid in a specially designed vehicle. Speaking after his visit, Stephen said, "We have some of the most dangerous roads in the country and the work that LRSP does is vital in teaching and encouraging us all to drive safely. The success of the scheme is shown by the sheer number of other rural counties beating a path to LRSP's door to learn what the Police and County Council are doing with other agencies to encourage safer driving. It's important work that I believe should be rolled out nationwide."
